An alternate Masters of Fine Arts program mashed up from your community of peers and administered by artist run centres. It should last exactly two years.
Social as it should involve, inform and discourse with a community of contemporary artists.
A program as defined and agreed upon by the artist, a faculty and a visual arts organization. This arrangement for every instance of an sMFA program is entirely defined by these three entities.
Facilities, resources and exhibition venues consists of whatever is available to the artist and administrators for the two-year program period.
It can and should be outside of any formal academic institution. It is an open and free program to use for visual art organizations – fees for sMFA candidates should be a low as reasonably possible and agreed to beforehand.
A sMFA receives its validation by community critiques, responses, and assessments and culminates with a candidate’s Thesis Exhibit.
